Massey Ferguson is launching a Special Edition of its best-selling MF 5600 Tractor Series based on the iconic MF 5610 Tractor which accomplished the record-breaking Antarctica2 mission to the South Pole in December 2014.
In an impressive feat of strength and endurance, which was followed by millions of people around the world, the MF 5610 carved its place in history and became the first standard farm tractor equipped with tyres to reach the Geographic South Pole overland.
Now customers have the chance to share in the adventure with the new MF 5610 Antarctica2 Special Edition equipped with a package of unique features and exclusive design attributes which reflect the many challenges of the 5000 km battle across the ice.
“With the emphasis on high performance, comfort, safety and control, this is a totally select, one-off bundle of features developed especially for this super tractor, offering customers excellent value-for-money and potential added resale value,” says Campbell Scott, Massey Ferguson Director Sales Engineering and Brand Development.

“The expedition and the tractor captured the imagination and the hearts of a worldwide audience, many of them working farmers who will be interested in buying their own version of this incredible machine,” explains Campbell Scott. “The journey to the South Pole was an epic, inspiring achievement and we’re expecting strong demand for the Special Edition. Production is set to begin from June 2015 and we recommend that farmers register their interest early in order to be able to secure their own example of this extraordinary piece of 21st century history - a chance to get a slice of the ice!” Log on to www.masseyferguson.com/mf5610special
The Antarctica2 expedition was spearheaded by Lead Driver, Tractor Girl Manon Ossevoort who was full of praise for the MF 5610’s performance. “The tractor was great – strong, steady and sure. It just kept going and going - like a tenacious little animal ploughing through the icy conditions,” she said. “And it turned out to be the best place to be on the expedition - spacious, warm and comfortable. A safe haven.”
Adds Campbell Scott: “Our tractor had a job to do and it delivered, just as it will deliver in the most challenging conditions on any farm.”
Together with Massey Ferguson which supplied the tractor, Antarctica2 enlisted the support of leading farm machinery industry partners including Trelleborg, Castrol, AGCO Finance, AGCO Parts, Fuse Technologies and MechaTrac (now Mechan Groep). Other supporters include Supplay, Telene, TAB, Lodi and Leoni.
